Waitrose Palmers Green...

Picture
In November 2016, Waitrose Branch in Palmers Green donated £125 to Enfield Clubhouse. This was raised by customers choosing Enfield Clubhouse as their nominated charity after shopping. Many thanks to everyone concerned.

Sponsored Walk...

On Wednesday 27th April a small group of Clubhouse members and Staff (right) set out on a 3 mile walk around the Forty Hall Estate in Enfield. We were lucky with the weather and the walk took just over an hour. In total we raised over £200 for MIND in Enfield. I must mention Patrick Collins, Lee Imlach & Robert Wittmack as they raised the bulk of the funds between them Thanks!!

Sponsored Swim...

On Sunday 10th of April, 2016, John Illiingworth (left) a long term Clubhouse member swam 40 lengths at Southgate Swimming Pool raising over £300 for Clubhouse funds. We recognise this as a sizeable physical feat and thank him for his dedication to our very worthy cause!!!

Macmillan Coffee Morning...

Picture
In November of 2015 we held a Macmillan Coffee Morning which was a huge success. People popped in and out from their offices to grab a piece of cake and a hot drink and we raised a sizeable £215 for the cancer support charity.

It is possible we will do this next year and maybe every year!!!

Gunsel cycles 60 miles and raises £430 ...

Picture
Our thanks, and congratulations to Gunsel on completing the London to Cambridge sponsored bike ride. Well done! And thank you to all who sponsored Gunsel.

On the day, the weather was perfect for cycling - cool, dry and not too windy. The event was organised by Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity, and more than 3,500 people took part. Gunsel choose to do this event in order to support two charities that she feels passionate about - Breakthrough, which received her regsitration fee, and Enfield Clubhouse, which is receiving the sponsorship money.

Gunsel set out from Picketts Lock at 9.15 am, with a group from the Edmonton Cycling Club. They reached Cambridge at 3.30 pm, having 4 comfort breaks along the way. Gunsel has told me that the last 10 miles were 'really fun' - I find this  hard to believe. It is a good job we are all different - some of us have fun watching tv, but for Gunsel cycling miles 50 to 60 provided this! This part of the route is flat, and she was spurred on by the signs every mile, counting down the miles that were left! Every 5-10 minutes she passed another sign, this provided her with the encouragement she needed.

By cycling the 60 miles and collecting lots of sponsors, Gunsel has raised about £430.  Very well done Gunsel! All of us at Enfield Clubhouse say a big 'Thank you very much!'.
