Yes, a fine time was had by all, and vines have been planted too!

People from Clubhouse have contributed their time, strength and a lot of energy to help with planting the vineyard at Forty Hall. This initiative is being led by Capel Manor.

Our volunteers planted an amazing 100 vines. Only three years to wait before we can enjoy the fruits of their labours! That is when the first white wine is scheduled to be available from these vines.

On the first day of planting we reckon there were about twenty students from Capel Manor, along with six volunteers from the Faith Garden Project and three from Clubhouse. They even featured on the BBC Regional News that evening.

The general consensus from our three was that it was VERY HARD, back-breaking work! Despite this two of the three returned for a second day of punishment, along with two others from Clubhouse! So, what was the attraction of this very hard work. Well, the comments include:
  • It was good to spend time out in the lovely fresh air, in a tranquil atmosphere.
  • The landscape was lovely.
  • It was exciting to be part of making history.
  • The community spirit was brilliant, with everyone, rolling up their sleeves, putting their boots on and just getting on with it!
  • Everyone was really friendly.
  • There was the satisfaction of doing something constructive.

Some of our volunteers, and they are still smiling!

Well done to all those who took part in the planting!
